Every day, minimalism is collecting an increasing number of fans. It is relevant not only when choosing wardrobe items or lifestyle, but also for the interior. Laconicism and multifunctionality for a bedroom is an ideal option.
Differences from other design solutions

The demand for minimalism is explained by the large number of stresses that people experience daily: at work, in the family, while traveling around the metropolis, and so on. And therefore, moments when you can stay in a cozy and pleasant corner are especially appreciated.
The minimalist bedroom is a great place to relax. Already by the name of the style it is clear that you do not have to puzzle over where to put an additional piece of furniture. In this case, there is a minimal number of them, but each of them can boast a whole list of functions.
The room is dominated by simple and even forms, there are no intricate objects and carved elements. And natural materials and textures only enhance the positive impression of the interior.
The storage system for objects in such interiors is thought out especially carefully. It so happens that at first glance it is unclear whether there is a cabinet or shelves in the room — they are effectively disguised as niches or mirrors.
Being in a minimalist interior, it always seems that the room is large. This effect is achieved due to the absence of unnecessary or doubtfully necessary things. And even a bedroom of modest size will visually appear larger if it is designed in a minimalist direction.
Varieties of minimalism
There are three main areas of minimalism: hi-tech, classic and ethno. Each of them has a “common denominator” and interesting individual features.
High tech
A distinctive feature of hi-tech minimalism is the presence of metal, glass or plastic doors. In this direction, the interior does not tolerate any decorative elements. Even bedding is recommended to choose a plain color, and the appropriate color scheme - forget about pink and lilac shades.
The ideal color scheme is a black and white palette. Mirrored cabinets will help to make the room modern (they will also have the function of a laconic decor), and instead of a chandelier, it is better to use a round ceiling.
Classic
Minimalist classics from traditional ones are distinguished by the absence of carved and twisted elements. In general, the interior looks luxurious and at the same time restrained.
Interior items made from natural materials - wood, textiles - create a cozy, relaxing atmosphere.
And do not forget, the number of items should be minimal. So, in addition to the standard set (bed, bedside tables and wardrobe), nothing should be in the bedroom. Save decorative elements for classics in its traditional sense.
Ethno
Ethnic minimalism has more interesting interiors. It varies depending on the characteristics of national color. Typically, local "motifs" appear in paintings on the wall or bright rugs on the bed.
Color scheme
Laconic style should be sustained in the appropriate color scheme. As a rule, designers choose beige, white or gray for the base. Sex of the happy owner of a minimalist bedroom does not matter, and in the male and female versions, such conciseness is relevant. Someone generally prefers dark tones. But in this case, you need to be extremely careful with the choice of furniture, otherwise the appearance of the interior can turn out to be dull.
- In order to add “life”, use bright accents. Usually bright lamps and pillows are ideal for this purpose. A juicy shade is chosen, and is repeated in all decorative elements.
- For example, a white bedroom with a dark floor is effectively “shaded” by a bright green floor lamp and pillows on a bed of the same shade.
And the design of the bedroom in black and white colors is complemented by soft decor. A burgundy plaid and carpet with the same burgundy stripe will do. The thing is that the black and white combination in itself is quite bright, and additional rich colors will be superfluous.
Ceiling, floor and wall finishes
In order for the floor, ceiling and walls to be a single whole, you will have to make a lot of effort.
Ceiling
Before embarking on the decoration of the ceiling space, decide on the color scheme of the interior as a whole.
- Usually use stretch ceilings, or paint the ceiling with matte paint.
- Multilevel models with different lighting methods in minimalism are not a frequent phenomenon, although this option looks very impressive.
Walls
Most often, monophonic finishes are preferred. As materials use paint or wallpaper without any print. Painted walls can be “diluted” with wood or stone inserts. In addition, brickwork looks very impressive in a minimalist bedroom, the main thing is to correctly position it, for example, behind the head of the bed or in a niche.
Floor
A suitable option for a modern minimalist design of the bedroom will be a jellied floor.Although the implementation of this idea will be expensive, the result will definitely exceed all your expectations. Well, a more budget option, although not the cheapest, is a wooden finish.
Furniture, decorative items and textiles
The furniture is practical, the decor is minimal. Actually, on these two “whales” the general concept is built. As already noted, the furniture should be multifunctional and comfortable. A characteristic feature of the style is small pieces of furniture. A great option is a rectangular bed with additional hidden niches for storing various items, a spacious wardrobe, comfortable bedside tables. And it is better to refuse a dresser.
The textile details in the bedroom in the style of minimalism should be a minimum quantity. Plain linens, laconic tulle, bedspread on the bed. Tablecloths and napkins leave for Provence, in minimalism they are completely inappropriate.
Of the technical innovations, only the most necessary is left. Often this "set" is limited to an alarm on the bedside table, and a table lamp. And moving these items to minimalism is against the law! Orderliness in everything is the motto of style.
Someone thinks that for children and teenagers minimalism is an inappropriate idea. Do not believe it! This style is beyond age, time and space. It is relevant today, and will be relevant many years later.
Making a bedroom in this style is not an easy task. Not every professional designer undertakes the embodiment of minimalism on real square meters. However, if there is a desire to achieve conciseness in the interior, using simple tips you can cope with this task.
